No one loves me like you do

We all love in a distinctive way as well as love means different to each of us individually. That's why sometimes one person becomes so special for us other than another one. People, events, smells, sounds, pictures trigger in us various memories, experiences, backstories, which lead us to emotions we felt at that time. This creates emotional attachment based on the trigger, which can be as strong as the emotions we experienced, which leads to linking this person with the emotion. This is what we might call love from first sight. Sounds pretty logical, right? Oh, and don't forget about brain chemistry connected to this process, which rule all the process from emotions to mood and feelings. So yes, love is definitely chemistry.

On the other hand, what if this chemistry triggers painful memories and feeling, which we hold as positive ones due to some deep trauma and the person we fall for brings us back to that dark place we tried to escape so hard? What if we keep following the same unfortunate patterns by simply bringing to our lives people who trigger us to specific emotions and feelings and blindly confusing it with love? Pretty often we romanticize the whole meaning of attachment taking it as this great and unknown feeling, which is so difficult to measure or grasp. What is love is not only a feeling, not emotion, not attachment but a combination of respect, appreciation, attention, affection, dependency, commitment, healthy human relating and intimacy, which is not only reflected in body movements? What if we could consciously choose who to love other than blindly follow our brain chemistry?

Seems like we can do it if we break the old patterns by reflecting our mistakes and learning from it as well as being conscious about a choice we make and where it can lead us.
